WEBFeb 16, 2012 · When I search for parts I get the choice of 3 groove or 4 groove pitman arms. Is there anyway to tell which I have without taking the part off of the truck? I am also in need of an idler arm, same thing there multiple are listed available.

WEBJul 28, 2015 · I was going to order new a new pitman arm on rockauto. But it asks if it's a 3 groove or 4 groove. Is there an easy way to find out besides taking it apart? Also when replacing the idler arm should the idler arm bracket be done too? Thanks

WEBMay 12, 2015 · A 1 5/16" wrench and pull the nut off the pitman arm and you can easily tell which you have. You won't have to pull it off, just stare at it and count, and then, of course, put the nut back on. And I'm pretty sure the 2500HD/3500's use the 3 groove.
