WEBMar 13, 2020 · We use a 10ft brillion for planting hay and we pull it directly behind a 10ft seed drill. We always seed in the spring, and seed a nurse crop of oats and peas for establishment. Always good success, and proper seed depth from the brillion for alfalfa/timothy and course grass seed.

WEBJan 19, 2009 · Bought a Brillion Sure Stand 12ft seeder this spring, dont know how old it is probably 30yrs. It spent most of its life at the Iowa State U research farm . Did 30 acres this spring broadcasted oats as a nurse crop. 8lbs red and white cover and birdsfoot trefoil with 16 lbs mixed grass with the seeder.

WEBMar 19, 2017 · 33% coating be around 132,000 per lb. 50% coating around 100,000. Raw Teff grass seed has 1,300,000 seeds per lb. 33% coating 858,000 per lb. 50% coating 650,000 per lb. The co I sell for has found the best germination with the 33% coating for the Teff plus better handling than the super small raw seed.

If your ground to sow is not real hard, then you can actually no-till with a JD grain drill. Especially if you had some moisture. No-tilling is definitively faster and easier. Maybe rent a grain drill this time and see how it works for you.

WEBJul 24, 2017 · I bought a Brillion Seeder 2 years ago and it works like one would expect. Yes, there is difference even within same seed type as different Orchard grass varieties will vary in size just a LITTLE bit, but not much. There is a reason Brillion seeders cost more.....accuracy and quality of components.

I mostly use JD 750 no till drill with small seed box works great. Makes great hay field even with timothy seed I plant a lot of timothy.
