We went here on Tuesday and sadly it was closed. However the view from the outside are amazing. This is such a huge castle that you can imagine just how many people and how long it took to build. Full review by Thargon

I have read conflicting information about the entrance to the new fortress - some say it is near the Spilia Gate, some say along a cobbled path near to the old port, and some say near the modern market - please can someone confirm which is the correct or best way to enter this fortress? Yes, we followed the route from the large fountain on the seafront by the old port. It's actually very easy. The only awkward bit is that you don't pay till you get to the top so …
