We went here on Tuesday and sadly it was closed. However the view from the outside are amazing. This is such a huge castle that you can imagine just how many people and how long it took to build. Full review by Thargon

Does this place ever open? I have travelled from the UK three times to look at it and each time it has been unexpectedly closed. It contrasts strongly with all the other Greek fortresses I have visited (over thirty this year) in being shut far more often than open!
I have read conflicting information about the entrance to the new fortress - some say it is near the Spilia Gate, some say along a cobbled path near to the old port, and some say near the modern market - please can someone confirm which is the correct or best way to enter this fortress?
