Bill Belichick released a statement on Wednesday through the University of North Carolina, where he is the football coach. Belichick addressed the viral controversy after his "60 Minutes" interview on Sunday.

The North Carolina football coach sat down with CBS Sunday Morning for a human interest piece pegged to Belichick's new memoir. The conversation since has focused less on what was discussed and more on what went unsaid — or, rather, what Belichick and girlfriend Jordon Hudson refused to answer.

In the statement, Belichick, the head football coach of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said he agreed to the interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” to promote his book “The Art of Winning - Lessons from My Life in Football” and that he wanted the interview to focus “solely on the contents” of the book.
