Two fires erupted in the San Diego area on Thursday afternoon, prompting evacuations. The Border 2 Fire, which broke out in the Otay Mountain Wilderness area east of Chula Vista and north of the U.S.-Mexico border, has burned approximately 4,250 acres, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

A new wildfire that erupted in northern Los Angeles County triggered tens of thousands of evacuation orders and warnings.

PGA officials announced Friday that The Genesis Invitational will be played on the South Course at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego Feb. 10-16. The event was moved from Riviera Country Club earlier this month due to wildfires in Southern California.

Torrey Pines is the replacement site for the Genesis Invitational. The Tiger Woods-hosted signature event typically is held at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles.

The Laguna fire, one of the latest major blazes to strike Southern California, prompted new evacuation warnings in Ventura County on Thursday. Newsweek reached out to the Ventura County Fire Department for comment on Thursday.
