DENVER (AP) — A former Colorado sheriff’s deputy was convicted Thursday in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man in distress who called 911 for help after his car got stuck in a small mountain community.

Andrew Buen was found guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the 2022 killing of Christian Glass, who was experiencing a mental health crisis on a mountain road.

The family of a Colorado man who was shot and killed by a Douglas County sheriff's deputy earlier this month "strongly dispute" claims made by the sheriff's office regarding that shooting and the man's actions leading up to it.

An attorney representing Seabron's family says the video "does not support the Sheriff's claims that this was shooting was justified and reasonable."

Jalin Seabron, 23, was shot and killed by a deputy after allegedly refusing orders to drop his gun in the parking lot of the Highlands Ranch Main Event Feb. 8.

Deputies responded to reports of an active shooter around 11:50 p.m. at the entertainment center on Centennial Boulevard. When the first deputy arrived, they saw a man with a gun in the parking lot
