The Detroit Tigers let a late lead slip away in Game 2 of Wednesday’s doubleheader, allowing seven consecutive batters to reach base during a six-run eighth inning in a 9-4 loss to the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. The Tigers (54-33) and Nationals (36-50) split the twinbill and play the series rubber match on Thursday.

A seventh-inning rally was for naught as the Tigers' bullpen gave up six runs in the eighth in a 9-4 loss to Washington.

Riley Greene hit a pair of three-run homers, Jake Rogers also hit a three-run shot and Spencer Torkelson had a solo homer.
