Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, & Magic Mouse may soon be upgraded with USB-C
Apple's slow transition to USB-C is inching closer to an end with the imminent release of a new Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, and Magic Keyboard, which were referenced in the iOS 18.1 RC.
New Magic Mouse, Trackpad and Keyboard coming soon – but don’t expect anything exciting
As noted by Aaron Perris on X, iOS 18.1 RC includes references to a “new” Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2 and also an updated Magic Keyboard. Technically, the current Magic Mouse and Trackpad are already version 2 ( Apple refers to the Lightning versions introduced in 2015 as “2” ). So what exactly is new about today’s findings?
Apple's New Magic Mouse, Keyboard and Trackpad Get USB-C, but Still Seem to Have Same Quirks

Apple's new USB-C peripherals for the Mac are failing to work with either versions of macOS before macOS Sequoia 15.1, or with the current beta of 15.2.

Apple’s Magic peripherals have consistently received heavy criticism for years now. The mouse is designed incredibly unintuitively, with the Lighting port on its underside, out of all places. This obviously makes recharging it a pain, and it’s absurd that you can’t use it while it’s being charged.
New Magic Keyboard with USB-C is available in three separate models
Apple has updated its Magic Keyboard accessory to use USB-C for charging rather than Lightning, but you can still get it in three variations.
Apple’s Magic Mouse, Keyboard, and Trackpad finally get USB-C
Apple’s EU-mandated transition from Lightning to USB-C has already affected most of its hardware. There have been a few stragglers, however. Near the top
Apple’s ‘Magic’ Accessories Finally Get USB-C
Alongside yesterday’s M4 iMac announcement, Apple also quietly updated its Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad to swap out the now-defunct Lightning port for the USB-C standard. This long-awaited change should not only be welcome for the new iMacs but also as more viable options for the new M4 Mac mini.
Planning to buy Apple’s new USB-C Magic accessories? Make sure you’re running macOS Sequoia 15.1 first
Apple’s brand new M4 Macs have been the subject of high praise, but right now we can’t say the same for its new Magic peripherals.
