The epic story of Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon is well known by now. What started as a running gag that saw Damon repeatedly “bumped” from Jimmy Kimmel Live turned into a sort of faux feud, sort of on par with the ongoing battle between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

Jimmy Kimmel saved Matt Damon from almost dying at the late-night host’s house. Kimmel revealed that Damon was once having dinner at his home, when he choked on a pork rib that Kimmel cooked. Kimmel said the piece of meat was stuck in Damon’s throat for an hour and a half.

During a new interview with Variety published Monday, Aug. 18, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel revealed how he once saved Matt Damon’s life after the “Good Will Hunting” star, 54, began choking on a rack of pork ribs.
