Coco Gauff overpowered defending champion Iga Swiatek 6-1, 6-1 to reach the Madrid Open singles final for the first time.

Casper Ruud reached the Madrid Open semi-finals with a 6-3, 7-5 straight sets triumph over Daniil Medvedev on Thursday. The Norwegian ousted Taylor Fritz to reach the quarter-finals and secured his first win against the Russian in their fourth meeting.

Since the ATP Masters 1000 format was introduced in 1990, Casper Ruud is just the third player to win each of his first seven quarter-finals on clay, after Guillermo Coria and Rafael Nadal
