A coalition of conservation groups and Native American tribal citizens have asked President Joe Biden to designate thousands of acres of rugged, scenic Badlands as North Dakota's first national monument.

If designated by the Biden administration, the Maah Daah Hey National Monument would encompass 139,000 acres of the Dakota Prairie Grasslands.

North Dakota’s solicitor general called on the North Dakota Supreme Court to reinstate an abortion law struck down by a lower court until a final decision in the case is made, arguing that the ban must remain in effect because the state has a compelling interest in protecting unborn life.

The North Dakota Supreme Court heard arguments Thursday, Nov. 21, about whether North Dakota should uphold its abortion ban pending an appeal from the state after the ban was overturned earlier this year.
