Notre Dame football holds a 10-3 all-time edge in the series with SMU, including wins of 59-6 in 1989 and 61-29 in 1986.

The SMU Mustangs will play at the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2026, it was announced Wednesday. SMU will travel to take on Notre Dame at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind., on a date to be determined during the 2026 season. The game will mark the 14th overall meeting between the two schools on the gridiron.
