US President-elect Donald Trump tapped Pam Bondi, a staunch ally who helped defend the ex-leader against impeachment, as US attorney general on Thursday following firebrand Matt Gaetz's withdrawal from the running.

It didn’t take President-elect Donald Trump long to rebound from former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz’s decision not to seek confirmation as attorney general. Hours later, Trump proposed that the job instead go to another resident of his home state, former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi.

The incoming president has tapped five attorneys who have been on his legal team to serve in government roles.
