After the largest toxic foam spill in state history at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station last month, Maine’s congressional delegation is asking the U.S. Navy to work with state and local officials to aid in the clean-up and help address the potential for future incidents.

Cleanup continues at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station following a spill of over 50,000 gallons of firefighting foam and water Aug. 19.

The Navy still owns the airport hangar where 51,000 gallons of toxic firefighting foam was discharged after an overhead fire suppression system with a deficient service record malfunctioned.
