A man suspected of stabbing a San Jose police officer during a confrontation Tuesday morning is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, police said.

Officials say the suspect was seen carrying a machete inside a Target, prompting a police call that ended with the officer injury.

The San Jose Police Officers’ Association said the stabbing suspect was on probation and was wanted on a felony warrant.
