PARIS (Reuters) - French oil major TotalEnergies SE was not informed of a U.S. investigation into possible bribery and corruption at Adani Green Energy Limited, it said on Monday, adding it will stop financial contributions to its Adani Group investments following last week's indictment.

French-based TotalEnergies has announced a suspension of new financial contributions to the Adani Group of companies following the indictment of certain Adani Group’s executives by US authorities. The indictment is linked to an alleged corruption scheme associated with Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL).

French oil major TotalEnergies SE said was unaware of a U.S. investigation into bribery allegations against Adani Green Energy and that it will halt financial contributions to Adani Group until the accusations are clarified.

TotalEnergies (NYSE:TTE) said Monday it will not make any new investments in companies connected to India's Adani Group after the U.S. indicted founder Gautam Adani and other Adani executives over an alleged bribery scheme.

TotalEnergies said it will not make any new investment in Adani until bribery charges in the U.S. against some executives of the Indian diversified conglomerate are settled.

Adani Green Energy said on Tuesday there is no new financial commitment under discussion with TotalEnergies , a day after the French oil major said it was pausing new investments into the Adani Group over U.

Internationally, the crisis has led to significant setbacks for Adani’s global operations. Kenyan President William Ruto recently canceled a procurement process that was set to award control of Kenya’s main airport to Adani, while a committee in Bangladesh has called for a thorough legal review of Adani’s power generation contracts in the country.
