Police are hunting a van driver who fled the scene of a crash with a tram after a three-year-old girl died in Manchester city centre. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said the collision occurred at 9.

Emergency services were scrambled to the city centre road at the junction of Booth Street this morning at around 10am following reports of a collision between a tram and a van. It is understood that the van then rebounded onto the road, hitting the young girl who was rushed to hospital. She later sadly died of her injuries.

The child was a pedestrian and was not travelling in either the tram or van during the collision on Mosley Street
