Gipson's signing, as first reported by Joe Person of The Athletic, comes off of the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. The 28-year-old defender now joins Carolina's active roster ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
The Panthers have made the signing of outside linebacker Trevis Gipson official, announcing the move on Tuesday afternoon.
The 49ers are behind the (5-2) Seattle Seahawks and (5-2) Los Angeles Rams for first place in the NFC West despite battling significant injuries for the entire season. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has to return this year while he recovers from his knee injury from 2024.
The San Francisco 49ers added depth in the trenches with a pair of roster moves leading up to a Week 8 showdown with the Houston Texans.
Lenoir is new to the injury report. Shanahan said Lenoir hurt his quad on Sunday. Lenoir played all 65 defensive snaps. Shanahan is hopeful Lenoir returns to practice on Thursday, so his absence could be precautionary.
