A strong earthquake struck western Turkey on Monday, with the Disaster and Emergency Management agency, AFAD, confirming a magnitude 6.1 quake

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake has struck in open waters of the Atlantic Ocean and was felt throughout the eastern Caribbean.

The relationship between the sites means an earthquake in one zone can trigger an earthquake in the other in a phenomenon called “stress triggering.”
