A Madison police officer shot and killed a man armed with a knife July 22, with video showing one officer shooting him as multiple officers attempted to arrest him on a city street.

According to the chief of police, the man drew a knife and injured one officer during the failed arrest attempt and the officer then shot and killed the man.

Ruiz was shot and killed Wednesday after police said he resisted arrest and injured an officer with a knife.
