A single-engine aircraft crashed Tuesday afternoon just off Highway 181 north of Skidmore, killing the pilot, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash happened when a pilot tried to make an emergency landing after reporting mechanical issues with the plane.

The crash happened just after 2 p.m. in the area of South Mission Road and South Stage Coach Lane in Fallbrook. According to the California Highway Patrol's Traffic Incident Page, the plane was low flying and flew into trees, hitting at least one tree.
The skydiving instructor who fell to his death Oct. 4 has been identified as Justin Robert Fuller, 35, of Murfreesboro. The tragedy happened about 2 p.m. Oct. 4 after Fuller and his client jumped from an airplane flying out of John C. Tune Airport, the Nashville Police Department said.

The crash killed the pilot, Bob Clark Bolton Jr., 59, of Heber Springs, and both passengers, Stanley Mitchell, 52, and Michael Montgomery, 56, both of Jonesboro. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
