The Pima County Sheriffs Department have confirmed they've found human remains at a home near Irvington and San Joaquin.

Tucson Pima Collaboration to End Homelessness sent out 400 volunteers to count Arizonans sleeping in shelters or on the streets.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has been in the national spotlight during news conferences on the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. He has been sheriff of Pima County for six of his 50 years in law enforcement. He oversees a 1,500-person department that covers more than 9,000 square miles of unincorporated Pima County.

Chad Kasmar will start his new position on March 1, and Monica Prieto was appointed to run the department.

Officials say the risk to the broader community remains low, but they are urging residents to stay alert and take precautions if they may have been exposed.

The Pima County attorney says Immigration and Customs Enforcement is increasing activity across the county after the arrest of three Venezuelan migrants seeking asylum. Her comments came after videos of ICE arrests spread across social media.

Chad Kasmar has retired as head of the Tucson Police Department to take a leadership role in Pima County. Kasmar will be replaced by his deputy chief, Monica Prieto.
