A fiercely contested primary between Senator John Cornyn and Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general, was upended in mid-May, when President Trump endorsed Mr. Paxton.

Voters in Texas saw little of the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate on Monday — provided they stayed away from screens.

Paxton previously faced three felony indictments for securities fraud in 2015, which were later dismissed in 2024 as part of a pretrial deal he struck.

Voters in the Garden State head to the polls on Monday as the early in-person voting period begins ahead of the June 2, 2026 primary election. Polls are open May 26-May 31 before Election Day.

Gov. Henry McMaster is not on the ballot, as his term limit expires this year.
