According to fire officials in Great Barrington, the Butternut Fire has not grown overnight. Officials say Friday's goal is to observe hotspots and cut the last fire break which connects the eastern and western lines. According to a post from the Great Barrington Fire Department's Facebook page, the line would bring the fire under containment

The rain is helping crews in Berkshire County in the fight against the massive Butternut wildfire. The fire in Great Barrington has now grown to nearly 1,400 acres on East Mountain. The approximately 1 ¼” of rain over the last 24 hours is helping slow the spread of the fire but not putting it out completely.

Crews continue to battle the Butternut fire in Great Barrington; the fire broke out overnight Monday. The fire had spread to over 1,100 acres as of Wednesday afternoon. The fire department though, offering some glimmers of hope Thursday in a Facebook update.
