In case you missed the news yesterday, veteran NHL defenseman Tony DeAngelo signed a one year contract with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. This comes after a somewhat rocky season with the Carolina Hurricanes where he managed three goals and 11 points in 31 games.

Tony DeAngelo has been a controversial figure since he stepped into the NHL. Teams did not want him this offseason following a rough year with the Hurricanes. The former Rangers and Flyers defenseman has signed with the KHL’s SKA St Petersburg,

DeAngelo joins Evgeni Kuznetsov, who also signed over in Russia this offseason, and prospects Alexander Nikishin (current SKA captain) and Timur Kol. In addition, former Hurricanes Valentin Zykov and Sergei Tolchinsky are also on the team as well as Carolina development coach Daniel Bochner who works for the KHL squad too.

Defenceman Tony DeAngelo has found himself a new team to play on, and it’s in Russia’s KHL. SKA Saint Petersburg announced on Monday that the veteran of 371 NHL games had signed a one-year contract with the team.
