NLS Moves One Nürburgring Race Date to F1 Off Weekend, Giving Verstappen the Opportunity to Race
The Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie moves its second race to the weekend gap between F1's China and Japan Grand Prix to give Max Verstappen the chance to race in a need-preparatory race ahead of potentially the 4-time champion's first attempt at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
The Nurburgring Langstrecken-Serie has shifted a key race date after Mercedes raised concerns about driver availability, boosting Max Verstappen’s 24h chances.
However, NLS organizers have now announced this has been brought forward by a week to March 21, thereby enabling Verstappen to take part. In a statement, the NLS said: “We’re turning it up a gear – for sport and our region! To make the NLS even more internationally accessible, NLS2 will be on the March 21st.
Ultimately, calendars must align for drivers from other categories to contest the race. A Verstappen cameo would have to wait until 2027 at the earliest, given this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 clashes with the Singapore Grand Prix in October.
Four-time Formula One champion Max Verstappen will sport a brand new race suit to match Red Bull's impressive 2026 car.
Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc is one of only three Monegasque drivers to start an F1 race. Leclerc, who memorably won the Grand Prix in 2024, has stayed in his hometown. Other big-name residents include Mercedes’ George Russell, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Williams’ Carlos Sainz.
Wait, there are two Max Verstappens?
