The Houston Texans are far from where they hoped to be at the midpoint of the season.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud took a hard hit as he was sliding in the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, leading to his exit for the rest of the day.

Stroud scrambled for 6 yards and was hit on the shoulder near the end of his slide by Kris Abrams-Draine and the back of his head violently bounced off the ground.

“You don't make excuses about who is in the game or not in the game,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said.

The Broncos moved to 4-0 when trailing in the fourth quarter, beating Houston 18-15 on a last-play field goal.

Overall, I thought Denver’s defensive backs played quite well.
