M arcus Semien, the most prolific Cal alum in the major leagues since Jeff Kent retired 17 years ago, sat out the Texas Rangers’ game Friday night after an injury to his left foot he said “felt like I was stepping on knives with every step.”

If Semien has to head to the injured list, it’d be his first trip to the IL since 2017 when he played for the Athletics.

Texas Rangers center fielder Evan Carter has been put on the 10-day injured list with what likely will be a season-ending right wrist fracture.
