The FHP said a pickup truck driven by a 66-year-old Tennessee man was attempting to make a U-turn at the intersection and the motorcyclist, who was westbound on C.R. 42, tried to stop but laid his bike down and collided with the pickup. The motorcyclist was taken to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and was pronounced dead, troopers said.

A 31-year-old Southgate man is in critical condition after a crash on Goddard Road in Taylor. The crash took place at about 11:10 p.m. April 30. According to Traffic Inspector Anthony Borg, a 28-year-old Taylor man was traveling eastbound on Goddard riding his Yamaha motorcycle when he rear ended a man driving a Dodge Ram.
