Martin, 79, and Short, 74, attended the star-studded “ SNL50: The Anniversary Special ” and also have been performing together in the “Dukes of Funnytown Tour,” and Martin said Short’s illness would affect two of their upcoming shows.
"Maya [Rudolph] had Covid. Marty has Covid. I wonder why?," the comedian said while sharing a photo of Short and Rudolph embracing and sharing a kiss.
A past tour, “An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life,” came to DPAC in 2017 and is currently streamable as a Netflix special.
Heading into this year’s SAG Awards, Martin Short had five previous nominations. Sunday night, the veteran actor-comedian won his first SAG Award at the age of 74 in the Male Actor In a Comedy Series category for his role as Oliver Putnam on Only Murders In the Building.
Steve Martin took to social media to joke about the "SNL50" COVID "curse," which infected both Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.
Steve Martin said, “Do you have your passport on you? ICE, get him!” as men dressed as ICE employees carted Martin Short off the stage.
Apparently laughter wasn’t the only contagious thing at “SNL50.” Steve Martin revealed in an Instagram post on Thursday night that Martin Short caught COVID-19 following “Saturday Night Live’s” 50th anniversary special — and potentially from Maya Rudolph.
The two comedy legends were forced to cancel two upcoming tour dates after attending the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special.
