Rebecca Marodi, 49, a captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), was found at her Ramona residence with multiple stab wounds on the night of Feb. 17, after deputies responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

Days after a Southern California fire captain was found stabbed to death inside her home, authorities announced her wife — who was previously convicted of voluntary manslaughter — is wanted in connection with her death.

A veteran fire captain was found dead inside her home, prompting a homicide investigation, California officials say. Rebecca's wife, Yolanda Marodi—also known as Yolanda Olejniczak— was also a veteran firefighter with Cal Fire, having served more than 30 years in the department. Despite her being widely respected by colleagues, Yolanda has been named the primary suspect, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

Rebecca Marodi was found in her San Diego-area home Monday. A woman has been identified as a suspect in her slaying, but her whereabouts are unknown.
