More Texas House Democrats spent the night at the state Capitol in Austin in support of Rep. Nicole Collier, who wasn’t allowed to leave the building after she refused to consent to a police escort.
Safety is again front and center at the Minnesota State Capitol on Wednesday morning following the deadly attacks on lawmakers more than two months ago, and last month's incident where a naked man was found inside Senate chambers.
Collier remained held in the lower legislative chamber on Monday after refusing to sign a slip that would have permitted a Department of Public Safety officer to shadow her around and outside of the Capitol—surveillance that House Speaker Dustin Burrows subjected Democrats who broke quorum to protest redistricting upon their return.

Security at the Capitol complex has been under renewed scrutiny in recent weeks following the assassination of the Hortmans. State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette Hoffman, where also shot in their homes but survived their injuries. The alleged shooter, Vance Boelter, is in federal custody on charges in those incidents.
"You really are inspiring so many people," the former vice president told Collier, who slept inside the Capitol in protest of police escort.
