Hue and cry: As rainbow crosswalks become controversial, a new one appears in Gainesville
A rainbow crosswalk, painted in apparent protest of FDOT regulations, has appeared at Albert "Ray" Massey Park in Gainesville. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has ordered the removal of these crosswalks, citing safety concerns and non-compliance with uniform traffic control device standards.
People took matters into their own hands after the commemorative crosswalk was removed, and drew it back onto the ground.
