Samsung will release the Galaxy S25 family in early 2025—it won't admit that, but we all know it's happening. The new phones will undoubtedly run the latest Qualcomm silicon with big, bright OLED screens, but there may be a surprise inside. A leaker claims Samsung will finally add support for A/B system updates with the Galaxy S25.

According to a leak, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series of smartphones could be the brand's first flagships to support seamless updates.

While there’s still a chance this rumor turns out to be bogus, the fact that Samsung has offered seamless updates in the Galaxy A55 does suggest things are turning around. It’s just a shame it’s taken until the Galaxy S25 to make it happen. But, better now than never.

Samsung Galaxy S25 could finally introduce Android's seamless updates, over eight years after its launch. Currently, only the Galaxy A55 supports seamless updates, although the smartphone is unavailable in the US. The Galaxy S25 series could debut by mid-January, based on the announcement date of the Galaxy S24 flagships earlier this year.

The details come from South Korea's ET news, which reports that a slim version of the Galaxy S25 could be released in a limited number of territories to gauge market response ahead of a full introduction with the Galaxy S26.

It's likely that the Galaxy S25 will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset when the new phones arrive next year. And that could be the most important change Samsung makes to its phones.
