Following a fatal classroom stabbing, parents at Maryvale High School are concerned about student safety and an apparent lack of communication from the school after the incident.

A school safety officer for the high school was alerted by staff that an assault had happened in one of the classrooms, police said.

Phoenix Police officials have identified the 16-year-old who is accused of stabbing and killing another student at Maryvale High School on Aug. 19.
