The Moldovan Central Election Commission reports that, with 99.46% of the votes counted, citizens of Moldova have expressed a positive response in the constitutional referendum on EU membership - though by a very narrow margin.

Moldova's pro-Brussels President Maia Sandu on Monday said her camp "won justly in an unjust struggle" in an EU referendum and first-round presidential elections marked by claims of Russian interference.

Moldovans were evenly split on Monday amid final counting in a geopolitically momentous referendum on European Union accession with 50.08% in favor and 49.92% against, electoral authorities said.
