Bug reports made in China Broadcom has emitted a pair of patches for vulnerabilities in VMware vCenter Server that a miscreant with network access to the software could exploit to completely commandeer a system.

VMware vCenter Server, Broadcom’s central management hub for the VMware vSphere suite, had a critical-severity vulnerability that allowed threat actors to remotely execute malicious code on unpatched servers.

VMware warned that an attacker with network access could send a specially crafted packet to execute remote code. CVSS severity score 9.8/10.
