Sony has just unveiled its newest camera, designed to occupy that section of the market. Dubbed the Sony A1 II, this camera follows on from the original Sony A1, unveiled almost four years ago.

There's a row about whether the new Sony A1 II is actually the first camera with object recognition – not least from Fujifilm owners – but my drone could do this years ago!

Yesterday, Sony announced the a1 II, a new flagship camera aimed squarely at professional photojournalists shooting sports and other high-speed action. The camera uses the same 50MP sensor as its predecessor but features an updated autofocus system that supports more subject recognition types.

Sony Alpha 1 II has also received improved image stabilization, which is now estimated at 8.5 stops in the center of the frame (previously 5.5 stops)

While flagship mobile devices are getting better and better when it comes to cameras, there are still limits that they can’t reach. The new Sony Alpha 1 II is here to remind us why the professional camera segment is still very much alive.
