Ajay Whidbee was pronounced dead at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following the shooting in the 700 block of Edgehill Road shortly before 11 p.m., the Fayetteville Police Department said. A second gunshot victim, whose name was not released, was listed in fair condition Sunday, according to police.

A man is dead and a woman was hospitalized following a shooting near Fayetteville Monday afternoon, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.

At 10:53 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shooting in the 700 block of Edgehill Road. When officers arrived, they found two men who had been shot.
