Mrazek could improve Detroit’s play between the pipes, where Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot have struggled of late. But Mrazek hasn’t been great this season himself.

Mrazek, 33, was a 2010 fifth-round draft pick of the Wings. He was traded to Philadelphia in 2018, he and went on to Carolina, Toronto and Chicago before being reacquired Friday by the Wings.

It seems like a smart move for Hawks general manager Kyle Davidson, who not only does right by Mrazek but also converts a 35-year-old pending free agent into a 25-year-old forward with term remaining — without having to give up any draft picks to make it happen.
