Roseland resident Jerry McCoy evacuated to a nearby hotel, but briefly returned home to grab essentials. “I kind of snuck back up in there, and when I got there I was checking my mail,” McCoy said. “I looked on the ground and it was all oily. My neighbor’s yard has a big puddle of oil in his yard.”
ROSELAND, La. (WAFB) - Smitty’s Supply is the focus of an explosion, but federal reports show the plant has had issues in the past. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Smitty’s had two incidents reported in the last five years. One of them was deadly.
State police are asking residents not to touch or clean the soot due to the remains being unknown at this time.
