A winter storm warning was in effect for north Georgia, including all of metro Atlanta, from 5 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. Areas in the winter storm warning saw several inches of snow on Friday and up to half an inch of ice.

“Significant accumulations of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will lead to hazardous travel conditions and the potential for power outages,” the NWS warns. In North Georgia, up to 6 inches of snow is possible with even more in higher elevations. Closer to the city, as much as 3 inches is expected.
