Director Gareth Edwards, a student of ‘Jurassic Park,’ didn’t try to put his own spin on the franchise, but instead to emulate his hero.

Although Spielberg didn't direct the new Jurassic film, he still worked closely with the screenwriter. After the 1993 original, the duo reunited for the 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, 2005's War of the Worlds, and 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. They have since reunited for another film.

David Koepp hadn't written a "Jurassic" movie since 1997. When Steven Spielberg asked him to return for "Jurassic World," his only request was to start over.
