On October 28, American Bittern #24-4268 was admitted from Norfolk, after colliding with a window at a construction site. The bird had a broken femur and anemia, and our veterinary team not only performed surgery to pin the fractured bone, but they even orchestrated a blood transfusion using blood from a Great Horned Owl donor! The bittern is recovering, though feeding and monitoring this high-stress patient has been challenging. The staff are using a small wireless camera to check on the bird's
