Robert John Bardo became infamous for the 1989 murder of actress Rebecca Schaeffer, whom he had obsessively stalked after watching her on the sitcom My Sister Sam. Enraged by her appearance in a romantic film role, Bardo tracked down her home address using DMV records and a private investigator. On July 18, 1989, he confronted Schaeffer at her Los Angeles apartment and fatally shot her in the chest. She died within minutes. Bardo was arrested the next day in Arizona and quickly confessed. Though
