New research conducted by Met Office Hadley Centre scientists has found that record breaking temperatures, exceeding the 2018 UK summer temperature, are becoming more likely due to climate change. They found that in the current climate there is an approximate 11% chance of exceeding those record temperatures each year and a steep increase over the past two decades as shown in the graph.
